
Fabio Refrigeri began his studies in guitar with B. Battisti D’Amario and received his diploma from the Conservatorio S. Cecilia, Rome.
He attended the ”Isitituto Superiore di Paleografia e Semiografia Musicale dall’Umanesimo al Barocco”, where he also worked as the assistant to Prof. Francesco Luisi in Renaissance Music Palaeography.
He also completed study of the lute with Andrea Damiani and attended advanced course in lute with Hopkinson Smith in Rome and A. Damiani in Urbino. After completing study in the lute at the Conservatorio S. Cecilia in Rome, he also received a diploma at the Conservatorio A. Boito in Parma with Marco Pesci.
Fabio performs actively on both guitar and lute and has
collaborated in diverse choral and prose projects in Italy
and abroad and specializes in early music . He is the
founder of the QuintEssenza Ensemble and currently
plays with mandolinist Fabio Menditto. He is listed in
the Annuario Musicale Italiano, under the category of
musicologist, critic and journalist. In 2007, Fabio
originated, composed, arranged, acted in and
performed the music for the theatre piece, Veronica
Franco: Un Corpo in Versi, for voice, soprano and lute
written by M. Aprea.
He is director and co-founder of the Italian Old-time Trio
which is dedicated to playing and preserving traditional Italian dance music for mandolin, guitar and bass.
