Fabio Refrigeri began his studies with B. Battisti D’Amario and received his diploma in guitar from the Conservatorio S. Cecilia.
He attended the Isitituto Superiore di Paleografia e Semiografia Musicale dall’Umanesimo in Barocco, where he was also worked as assistant to the professor for Renaissance music, Prof. Francesco Luisi.
Refrigeri also completed study of the lute with Andrea Damiani and attended advanzed course in lute with Hopkinson Smith in Roma and A. Damiani in Urbino. After completing study in the lute at the Conservatorio di S. Cecilia in Rome, he also received a diploma a the Conservatorio A. Boito di Parma with Marco Pesci.
He performs actively on both guitar and lute and has collaborated in diverse choral and prose performances in Italy and abroad performing especially instrumental Italian music of 17th and 18th centuries.
He is the founder of the QuintEssenza Ensemble. He has also worked with mandolinist Fabio Menditto as a duo. He is listed in theAnnuario Musicale Italiano, under the category of musicologists, critic and journalist. He was also recently the creator and director of the theatre piece , Veronica Franco: un corpo in versi , for voice, soprano and lute by M. Aprea.
